| MOTHER LODE JEWISH COMMUNITY YOUR JEWISH CONNECTION IN THE GOLD COUNTRY Encompassing Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties |
We would like to welcome your interest in our group. Our group has been
formed to serve the relatively small Jewish community of the Mother Lode
area in Northern California (Amador, Calaveras,Mariposa and Tuolumne
Counties). MLJC has actually existed for about 22 years, but is just now
growing by leaps and bounds. There are many of us in the Mother Lode
looking to meet and worship with other people of our faith. We now have
guest rabbis or speakers and two Torahs of our very own (the first of which
was dedicated in 2003).
Our group currently holds one Shabbat service a month but sometimes have
additional activities. Our services are usually held at private homes at 7PM.
We also try to have adult education and children's Sunday School classes
once a month. We recently have been meeting at members' homes. Since
we don't have our own building so meeting places are always subject to
change. We also try to get together for all the special Jewish holidays,
including the High Holydays.
Our annual dues are pay-what-you-can-afford but we hope it will be at least
$100 per family with additional costs for Sunday School ($100 yr. for the first
child, $75 yr. for the second, additional children free). We usually collect
dues in September before the High Holydays. We are a nonprofit group
listed as such with the IRS.
